About Our Library

Welcome to the Hamburg Public Library!

As one of the oldest libraries in Berks County, the Hamburg Public Library has a rich history as a community hub. Established in 1903 through a generous donation of $10,000 from steel magnate Andrew Carnegie, the library's existence was contingent on local community support. Both Carnegie and the Hamburg community recognized the vital role a library plays in community life. Today, we continue to operate in the building funded by Carnegie, honoring the commitment made by both him and the community in 1903.

Located in the heart of Hamburg, our historic library provides a range of services to the local community. These include access to public computers, WiFi, faxing, photocopying, reference services, and engaging programming for both adults and children. Additionally, we offer a diverse collection of books, audiobooks, music CDs, and DVDs.

We are proud to carry forward the legacy established by Andrew Carnegie and the Hamburg community over a century ago, remaining dedicated to serving and enriching the lives of our patrons. Explore, discover, and enjoy the resources and programs that make the Hamburg Public Library a cherished institution in our community.
